THE JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION

The Jackie Robinson Foundation was founded in 1973 by a small group of devoted friends and family of Jackie Robinson. The organizing concept was derived from the clear sense that the principles and traditions that Jackie Robinson fought for during his lifetime must be preserved and advanced in succeeding generations. The principle, simply stated, is that every human being has an inalienable right to the opportunity to develop his or her potential fully. The aim of JRF is to provide such opportunities.

From the inception, the essential problem addressed by the Foundation was how to assist minority and poor youth and their families to strive towards an ideal; that is, to learn to cope effectively with life's issues and be prepared to contribute to their communities. A variety of programs have been established to advance this objective.
