Luce became Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chief Executive Officer of Consolidated Edison Company of NY.

He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Columbia University and The Conference Board. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, UAL Inc., United Airlines and GAB Business Services, Inc. Mr. Luce is currently Co-chairman of Interracial Council for Business Opportunities (ICBO).

BILL COSBY, actor, comedian, recording artist and concert performer, was the 1981 recipient of the JRF Robie Humanitarian Award. This year marks his third appearance at the Awards Dinner, either as MC or an honoree.

Throughout his career, Cosby has been a crusader for better understanding among all people. His total commitment to youth is evident in his work and in the organizations he supports.

He received his Masters degree and Doctorate in Education for the University of Massachusetts.

LIONEL HAMPTON is entering his 45 year as a musical performer, and his contributions to the world of jazz are legendary. Widely known as the "King of the Vibes" and "Master of the Drums", Hampton has won the  "Vibes" position in Playboy's Annual All-Star jazz and pop poll for the past 18 years. Interested in the development of new artists, he has introduced such greats as Dinah Washington and Joe Williams.
