Is there a place in American business for somebody like Jim Nixon?

Yes, a very special place. For a man always on the go.

Jim Nixon is a vice president of ITT and director of the equal employment opportunity program.

It's his job to make sure that our other people have a place in American business, too.

A native of Pittsburgh, Jim received his engineering degree at the prestigious Carnegie Institute of Technology.

After college, he joined a major American company where he worked on the design of nuclear power systems.

But Jim wanted to do more than carve his own niche.

Through organizations like the NAACP, Jim was striving to help less fortunate people find niches of their own.

So when his employer offered him a position as head of the equal opportunity program, he jumped at the chance.

And a few years later, we're pleased to say, he joined us in the same capacity.

It should go without saying that he's done a superb job. Which is why he was recently recognized as a Black Achiever by the Harlem Branch of the YMCA.

Jim Nixon has devoted his life to helping others get ahead.

Which is why we've made a special place for him with us.

The best ideas are the ideas that help people. [[ITT logo]]
