What Is OIC? (continued)

programs for unemployed Americans, including employment and training, alternative education systems, community economic development, housing for the aged and urban revitalization.

We Believe: OIC is needed by the nation as a demonstration of what people can do to help themselves if they have adequate public and private resources.

OIC brings together business, government, political and community interests.

OIC is a catalytic agency for necessary change. OIC is an innovative, alternative method for providing human resources development services to those populations who have, in the past, least benefitted by traditional service institutions.

OIC believes in the "whole man" concept, and that every person must be given the opportunity to succeed.

OIC/A is joined in the OIC movement by OIC International (OICI) and the Opportunities Academy of Management Training, Inc. (OAMT). Since 1969, OICI has established programs in Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Togo, Lesotho and The Gambia. OICs are being planned in the Ivory Coast, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and England. Opportunities Academy of Management Training (OAMT), offers courses in human resource development, leadership, employment and training legislation, and business management, including minority entrepreneurship at various sites across the nation.

OICA also provides technical assistance in the areas of:

Community Economic Development
