"I BELIEVE IN THE BROTHERHOOD OF MAN, NOT MERELY THE BROTHERHOOD OF WHITE MEN BUT THE BROTHERHOOD OF ALL MEN BEFORE THE LAW...IN GIVING THE NEGRO THE RIGHTS WHICH ARE THEIRS WE ARE ONLY ACTING IN ACCORD WITH OUR IDEAS OF A TRUE DEMOCRACY."
--SPEECH, JUNE 15, 1940, AT SEDALIA, MO., IN CAMPAIGN FOR REFLECTION TO THE UNITED STATES SENATE, AS QUOTED BY HARRY S.TRUMAN

Dear Honored Guest

We believe that when the late President Harry Truman spoke those words 42 years age he was expressing the sentiment of all right thinking Americans, starting with the Founding Fathers and through yet unborn generations.

The month of February has been designated as "Brotherhood month," we trust not just in name, but in spirit. We of the 100 Black Men, Inc., and The Association For A Better New York, Inc. feel that you exemplify this credo in your day-to-day living.

On Friday, February 25th, at the Tower Suite, 48th floor, TIME-LIFE BUILDING, 50th Street and AVENUE OF THE AMERICAS, from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m., the association and the 100 Black Men invited you to join us in reaffirming the letter and spirit of Brotherhood Month and honor two men who exemplify it, the Honorable Tom Bradley, Mayor of Los Angeles, and Coy Eklund, Chairman of the Board of the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S. No Speeches, no fund raising, but just pleasant and enlightening conversation over cocktails and a buffet with persons like yourself who are interested in making the world we live in a better planet for all mankind.
