HARLEM COMMONWEALTH COUNCIL: AN OVERVIEW

There is a new vitality in Harlem that can be felt, heard, and seen. The fact Harlem is the single largest undeveloped piece of real estate in Manhattan is no longer an impediment to its growth. Now, instead, it is its strongest incentive. 

The people of Harlem, the workers of Harlem, and the business-people of Harlem have been brought together in the realization and vision of Harlem's future, a future of promise and profitability. And during the last 14 years, there has been no stronger agent to this unification nor stronger advocate of this vision than the Harlem Commonwealth Council. 

Organized in 1967 by a group of Harlem professionals, community and business leaders, the Harlem Commonwealth Council, a non-profit entity, was at first designed only to help strengthen and support the
