[[5 images]] DOROTHY HEIGHT, COY EKLUND RECEIVED NUL AWARDS A noted human rights activist, Ms. Dorothy Height, President of the National Council of Negro Women, and a business executive who has consistently promoted equal opportunity, Coy Eklund, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of The Equitable life Assurance Society of the United States, were the recipients of the National Urban League's Annual Equal Opportunity Day Awards on Thursday, November 18, 1982. The awards, the highest honor the NUL can bestow, will be presented at the agency's 26th Equal Opportunity Day Dinner at the New York Hilton Hotel. The awards are made to individuals who have made distinguished and continuing contributions to equal opportunity. Ms. Height has served as President of the National Council of Negro Women since 1957. Under her leadership, the NCNW has grown from an organization staffed primarily by volunteers to an agency of professionals that annually assists some four million women with programs in employment, education, career advancement and leadership development.
