William W. Allison is vice president of The Coca-Cola Company and director of External Affairs.

Mr. Allison was elected an officer of The Coca-Cola Company in March 1981 and named director of Community Relations. In August 1981, Mr. Allison was appointed director of External Affairs.

Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Allison served for three years as Deputy Director of the U.S. Community Services Administration, forerunner to the Office of Economic Opportunity, in Washington D.C. In this capacity he was responsible for the administration of the agency in programs and services. His extensive career in these areas began in 1958 in the Philippines, where he taught and did research work a the University of the Philippines.

Mr. Allison returned to the United States in 1964, as associate director of the Employment on Merit Program sponsored by the America Friends Service Committee in High Point, North Carolina. In 1965 he moved to Atlanta as director of program development for the Community Council of the Atlanta Area, Inc. During the summer of 1966, Mr. Allison was community involvement coordinator for the Peace Corps Training Program at Morehouse-Spelman Colleges.

In September of that year, he began his association with Economic Opportunity Atlanta, Inc., joining as associate administrator for Program Development and Planning. In 1968 he became deputy administrator of the agency, and in 1969, he was named executive administrator. In 1977 Mr. Allison moved to Washington, D.C. to become deputy director of the Community Services Administration.

Mr. Allison is a member of the Board of Governors for Woodward Academy and a member of the Advisory Counicl for Atlanta University's School of Business Administration.

Currently, Mr. Allison serves on several local and national boards, including the Martin Luther King National Historic District (where he is chairman), the Alliance Theatre, the Butler street YMCA, Wesley Homes, and Atlanta University Chancellor's Circle. He also served on the Board of Directors of The Coca-Cola Company from 1973 to 1977.

Mr. Allison was born September 10, 1933, in Nashville, Tennessee. His military service, from November 1954 through October 1956, was with the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a Specialist 3rd Class.

He is a graduate of DePauw University and the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, he has studied at the University of the Philippines.

In recognition of his active concern and zeal for the community, Mr. Allison has received a variety of awards including: Urban Service Award (1967), presented by the Office of Economic Opportunity; Young Man of the Year in Public Service (1968), presented by the Atlanta Junior Chamber of Commerce; Outstanding Young Man of the Year (1968), presented by the Committee for the Outstanding Young People in Atlanta; member of Leadership Georgia (1971), a statewide leadership forum selected by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce; Ivan Allen, Jr. Human Relations Award (1974), presented by the Morris Brown College National Alumni Association; and Outstanding Business Individual of the Year (1975), presented by the Interracial Council for Business Opportunity.
