up space program—aid for energy evem though his Energy man had to resign because he insisted on giving up our wilderness to private developers and he failed also to address himself to the need of the poor and hungry which his man Ed Meese claimed there was none of and befailed to curve his man Nathaniel Pendleton of his stacked Civil Rights Commission who now says he will direct the attention of the Commission to studying ways of protecting the rights of white males.

Oh yes, we were better off now than under President Carter and to prove it the president cited Barbara Proctor, a Black advertising agency owner and a hispanic businessman who are making it.

The president claimed that his policies have turned the nation around and we are coming out of a depression. He defended his right to keep us the best armed nation in the world—saying that with our arms everyone must respect us—and to prove our powers he saluted a war hero stached in the gallery of the house—But he failed to say anything about Robert Goodman, the Black Navy Pilot shot down over Lebanon and who was destined to be a war hostage kept by the Syrian—until the Reverend Jesse Jackson whom he ignored, went to Syria and brought him home.

The President talked about his budget deficit only to say that he wanted the solving of this one to be done by a bipartisan committee of Republicans and Democrats.

Oy yeah, he did say we are saving the American people from Communist domination and pointed to our aids to the nations in the Caribbeans, but he failed to say when the rest of our Marines, of 259 were killed, will be brought home from Beirut.

On declaring his intent to seek re-election, the President who had just previously decided to send an ambassador to the Vatican, went before some conservative and T.V. preachers of the moral persuasion ilk to amend his fences with them by beating his breast over abortion and the right for school children to pray in their schools.

And again there was so much not touched, like employment among Black youth, equal pay for women, aid to elderly with this Medicare and Medicaid problems, social programs for dependent children, fair housing subsidies, and why go on.

The Reverend Jesse Jackson, a charismatic orator and actor also had an act he played out before he declared himself to be a candidate for the Oval office. Similar to Reagan, Jackson campaigned among friend and foe asking them to help him make up his mind—And when he finally decided the "shit" hit the fan.

Many of his supporters some of whom had walked arm in arm him during his Martin Luther King days came out to talk against Jackson quest.

Among the folks who had problems with his move were Coleman Young, Mayor of Detroit, Andrew Young, a King supporter and now Mayor of Atlanta; Coretta King and Daddy King; John Jacobs of Urban League and Ben Hooks of NAACP. But this was understandable even to Jesse because his non supporters had personal problems of their own and could not see Reverend Jackson as the solution to their problems.

An example, the Black democrats of Alabama did not want to desert Jesse altogether so they tried to solve their dilemma by asking Jesse to run for Vice President.

Even Harold Washington, whom he helped put over the most fantastic feat of beating the Democratic machine to win his seat at Chicago City Hall hedge on coming out for a candidate

After Jesse declared he was attached by white dissidents, a Jewish organization threatened to picket him as he went about the business of campaigning. The White Mayor of New York came out to suggest to Blacks of his city that they desert him—And CBS a New York Times came out with electorials calling him a meddler, and interloper, a carpetbagger—and all because Jesse had the gall to go to Syria and bring out Lt. Goodman, the Black Navy combat Pilot. (No Black according to this reasoning is supposed to know anything about foreign affairs.)

Harold Washington, the Mayor of Chicago pulled off the political coup of all times when he organized Blacks of Chicago to come to the poll to vote him in as winner of a bitter primary fight; then to come out again to form the basis of his support which resulted in his winning the Mayors spot against a white Republican candidate who was aided by Harold deflecting democratic former coherts.

Wilson "Mr. Clean" Goode, too, had to fight a former racist Mayor but he managed to run a clean campaign which included everyone in Philadelphia and he won.

But Melvin King after doing well in the primary had to come back to run in the general election in Boston and then the white rallied around the white candidate from South Boston and Melvin lost.

And in the lets tell it as it is department—where one candidate used grace and charm (Reagan) Jesse Jackson powerful oratory and a cause: Edward I. Koch, the Mayor of New York, who also thinks himself the Mayor of Tel Aviv and now an author, uses insensitivity to his Black and hispanic needs to stay in office.

The Mayor who prides himself on being feisty and whose vindictiveness is practiced against all who disagree with him—only hires Blacks and hispanics an hsi administration who are loyal to him at the expense of their individual communities.

When the Black ministers of the city asked a Congressional Committee to come in to study Police Brutality in his town, the Mayor reacted by attacking the Federal committee—But when his police Commissioner resigned—Edward I. Koch was quick to appoin [[appoint]] a Black Commissioner.

When Black mounted a campaign to support a Black for Chancellor of the cities board of education, the Mayor countered by trying to appoint a white deputy for the spot—And when this move failed for all the abvious [[obvious]] reasons, the Mayor then came out for splitting up the Black and hispanic coalition who were working for Supt. Mendes a Black, by supporting a Puerto Rican candidate who came on the scene from left field. As least the Puerto Rican was a person of high quality.

Our Mayor, who now has nightmare over the fact the Blacks are on the march in his town and will rise up against him now says a Black should be at City Hall as Manhattan Borough President and is talking about supporting a Black of his choice for thespot.

We were personally pleased when our fraternity Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity chose to award Henry Brown of anheuser Busch Co.; Dr. James Walker of Warner Lambert Co. and Donald Harris of Philip Morris with three of this organization top awards for their service to the Black community way and above the call of duty.

We were also pleased when Jackie Burch was promoted at Pepsico, that Bernice Powell was reelected President of New York Chapter of 100 Black Women, that Vanessa Williams won the Miss Americas Contest and that Col. Guin Buford went up in space.

We were saddened when J.J. Smyers; Blil Armstrong [[Bill Armstrong]], Leroy Chase, James Vander Zee, Owen Dodsen, Earl Hines, Mary Watts and Sarah Slack were called home.

And old Ronald did it again, he spent some 1/2 million bucks to announce that he was seeking a second term in the Oval office—And say wasn't that some funny timing on how all of a sudden the news broke that the Reverend Jesse Jackson Push Organization got some donation from the Arabs. And how this news broke a Reagans first day as a candidate.
