About 250 spectators crowded in to watch the second annual Mashpee Invitational Tennis Tournament, held the weekend of July 18 at the private courts of Ernestine Nwanagu, Route 130, Mashpee.

The winners for this year were Ernestine Jones of Yonkers, N.Y. and Katie Long of New Rochelle, N.Y. who defeated Andrea VanLeesten of Providence, R.I., and Andrea Thomas of Yonkers, N.Y.

Along with the four committee members and the four finalists, the other players were: Marilyn Gee of White Plains, N.Y.; Mary-Alice Jackson of Yonkers; Dorothy Lewis of the Bronx; Delores Richardson of New Rochelle; Amanda Webb of Mount Vernon, and Mary Young of Stamford, Conn. and Mashpee.

The tournament is the brainchild of Mashpee summer resident Tena Jackson, of Cotuit Road. She and three friends organized the tournament. The players are either good friends of the organizers or players who are known to be competitive; the only way to play in the tournament is to be personally invited.

The other committee members are Barboza Soliz of Rye, N.Y., and Route 130, Mashpee; Betty Dyett of White Plains, N.Y., and Autumn Drive, Mashpee, and Mrs. Nwanagu, also of Enugu, Nigeria.
