The New York Chapter of Carats Inc., are busy preparing for Carats' 1984 Conclave. The highlight of the July Conclave will be the continuation of the funding for the Pearl D. Foster Scholarship Fund. This fund will benefit some of the brightest and most talented students enrolled at Queens College, New York, N.Y.

The Detroit Chapter of Carats hosted the 1983 conclave in true "super city" style under the theme of "A Trilogy of Mystic." A record number of Carats and Carateers spent three fun-filled days at the elegant new Hotel St. Regis in mid-town Detroit. Each day produced a more intriguing event which was accompanied by a wealth of fantastic music, culminating with a magnificent black-tie dinner dance featuring many gorgeous original masks. The recipient of the Annual Carat Community Service Awarded was presented to Dr. Charles Wright, founder and director of the Afro-Americal [[American]] Museum in Detroit.

Carats, Inc., a national organization of professional women, now consists of eleven chapters located in Atlanta, Ga., Baltimore, Md., Chattanooga, Tenn., Cleveland, O., Columbus, O., Detroit, Mich., Macon, Ga., Miami, Fla., New York, N.Y., and Philadelphia, Pa., and Washington, D.C. Each of these chapters pursues a wide variety of educational, cultural, social and civic activities.
