The Black Fashion Museum, a unique Harlem cultural organization which houses garments by black designers dating back to the 1850's, recently added the work of young black designer, Ernest Harris, to its collection. Mr. Harris, the first black recipient of the prestigious ILGWU Next Great-Designer Award, was recommended by Lois Alexander, founder of the Museum, to Kobrand Corporation who commissioned him to create an original garment for a new national poster campaign for Beefeater Gin.

The Ernest Harris original - an elegant, red satin striped gown - is the focal point of the new Beefeater poster and was recently featured in the Harlem Week 1983 Fashion Extravaganza in New York.

The gown was donated to the Black Fashion Museum by Kobrand and is on view as part of the permanent collection in its townhouse at 155 West 126th Street in New York City.
