1982 HIGHLIGHTS: Rickey turned in the best season ever by a major league base stealer...setting the all-time record with 130 steals breaking Lou Brock's record of 118 the night of August 27th at Milwaukee's County Stadium...with Doc medich on the mound Rickey out ran Ted Simmons throw to 2nd base to run by Brock...he added 3 more steals that night to equal his season game high of 4...he had 34 multiple stolen base games in 1982...25 times he stole 2 bases in a game, 6 times 3 bases and 3 times he stole 4 bases in a single game...Rickey's best month for stealing bases was May when he swiped 27 in 28 games...he stole home twice...both on the end of double steals with Dwayne Murphy...he stole 2nd 95 times and 3rd 33 times...he had his greatest success with Cleveland's Ron Hassey, stealing 13 times without being caught with Hassey behind the plate...Bob Boone of the Angels had the best percentage versus Ricky...throwing him out 5 times at 2nd and 1 time at third for a total of 6...Rickey stole 6 times with Boone catching...the White Sox held Rickey to 5 stolen bases his lowest total versus one team...his highest total was versus Cleveland with 15.
