History-Sylvia Hill Williams-Director of the National Museum of African Art at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Ms. Williams received her bachelors degree in art history from Oberlin College and a master's degree from New York University. She joined the curatorial staff of the Brooklyn Museum's Department of African Oceanic and New World Culture in 1971 as a Mellon Research Fellow. While there, she reinstalled the permanent African collection, using a grant from the NEA, and created several African and Oceanic exhibitions during her tenure. She is well-traveled in Africa and Europe and in 1974 received a grant sponsored by the National Museum Act to study African art collections in France, Belgium and England.

Business-Suzanne de Passe-Now president of Motown Productions, Ms. de Passe has risen through the ranks of Motown serving as vice president of the Creative Division, director of the West Coast Creative Division and creative assistant to the president, before assuming control of this world-renowned music company. Ms. de Passe served on the Board of Trustees of the UCLA Foundation and the National Urban League. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Committee of 200, the Writers Guild of America, ASCAP, and the American Film Institute-Second Decade Council. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Screenplay for "Lady Sings the Blues" and her received the Urban League Achievement Award and the Brotherhood Crusade Black Pioneer Award. She resides in Los Angeles, California.

Technology-Antoinette Bianchi-

Born in New Orleans and raised in Bogaloosa, Louisiana, Ms. Bianchi, now chair/president of Bianchi Enterprises Inc. in Baltimore, has had a multifaceted career. She has served as a nun in the Catholic Church, taught in experimental education programs, sold life insurance and held the position of director of program development and coordinator of the Master's program at Antioch College. Bianchi Enterprises is a million dollar high technology manufacturing company which assembles electronic and electromechanical products for major industries. Ms. Bianchi employs 70 people.

Education-Mary Hatwood Futrell- Ms. Futrell is president-elect and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Education Association (NEA), the nation's largest organization of teachers, professors and allied school employees. She will take office on September 1, after having worked extensively with local NEA affiliates and focusing attention on the importance of quality education. Ms. Futrell is currently a co-convener of the observances planned to commenorate Martin Luther King's historic March on Washington, scheduled for August 27, 1983. She lives in Washington, D.C.

Economic Development-Patricia Walker Shaw-Ms. Shaw is president and chief executive officer of the Universal Life Insurance Company in Memphis, Tennessee. She has the honor of being the first Black woman appointed to the Board of Commissioners of Memphis Public Utility in 1973. She now serves on the Boards of many utilities, colleges and associations and is a member of such civic organizations as the NAACP: YWCA; PUSH; American Management Association and Coalition of 100 Black Women, Memphis chapter.

Community Service-Dr. Mattie Cook-One of the founding members of Malcom King; Harlem College Extension in New York City, Dr. Cook has served as its chief executive officer since 1968. Dr. Cook has a wide range of educational experience in the private and public sector as a consultant, lecturer, administrator and teacher. In addition to the Candace Award for Community Service, Dr. Cook has received awards in such areas as education, correction, drug abuse treatment and economic development.

Jewell LaFontant-Received the Special Candance Award for Distinguished Service. Is known in the fields of law, business and government as a pragmatic woman of principle.
