BEVERAGE INDUSTRY PIONEERS SALUTED
NEW YORK CITY:--The first annual Pioneers' Salute dinner of the Beverage Association Eastern Division, is an ambitious undertaking. This is an organization of tavern and liquor store owners covering the area from Maine thru Ohio and every city, town and village in between. One of the most active chapters in this major national organization, with chapters covering the South, North and West to blanket the country, the Eastern Division has 1500 members. Headed by Joseph T. Finn, the president and general chairperson, it is reaching for a maximum of the potential 15000 members within the region.
The programming of the Beverage Salute Dinner as an annual event is top seeded. Its philosophy to annually acknowledge and commend individuals, whose contributions in the related business fields provides incentives for others to achieve similar success. This will prevent those accomplishments from becoming a casulty of knowledge. The organization is grateful to Edgar M. Bronfman, Chairman/CEO, The Seagram Company Ltd. and Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc., August A. Busch, III, Chairman/President, Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc., Roger Fridholm, President/CE, Stroh Brewery Company and John A. Murphy, Chairman/CEO, Miller Brewing Company for joining this initial effort as Co-Chairpersons. Their support insured its success though they could not attend tonight.
Proceeds from this affair will benefit the Shield Foundation. Another N.U.A.B.A./ED bold step, it was founded in '83 in response to prevailing social and economic trends within the community in which members of the organization do business. To develop and implement an educational program for entry level personnel into the beverage service industry and provide financial assistance for qualified employees to engage in higher educational pursuits, are part of a ten point agenda of the Shield Foundation. It is a Not-For-Profit, tax exempt foundation.
The officers of the National Affiliated Beverage Industry E/D are: Joseph T. Finn, president and general chairperson, West Ivey, vice president, Eleanor Jones, secretary, John Taylor, financial secretary, Roy Walker, Treasurer, John Williams, Sgt. at arms and Jeff Jamerison, Chaplin.
