Known since it's organization in 1930 as "The Gay Northeasternes" it is one of the oldest group of Black Women in the United States, the fulfillment of a dream of Agatha Scott Davis.  

They started out as purely social but as they matured so did their outlooks. Today there are few charitable organizations that have not benefitted, through the years, from their generosity.  They stated with a yearly scholarship to Howard University, then a lifetime membership in the N.A.A.C.P.  Among the charities they have helped are the Northside Child Development Center, Katy Ferguson Home, and the Harlem-Dowling Childrens Service, to name a few. In October two of the New York members, Florence Dixon and Louise Moore took part in an affair that raised $10,000 for the United Negro College Fund. Last year they gave to the Policeman's Benevolent Association to help purchase bullet-proof vests for New York's finest.
