INCA IN PERSPECTIVE

The Institute of New Cinema Artists, Inc., a tax exempt non profit organization was founded by Third World Cinema Productions, Inc. in 1970 and has since been developed into a separate corporation with its own governing Board of Directors
The purposes of INCA are to (1) provide training and employment opportunities for aspiring filmmakers and video artists who, because of sociological, economic or racial circumstances, are denied access to the media processes; (2) develop a mechanism to produce high quality motion picture and television products; (3) explore existing, advance and experimental uses or media as educational, motivational and theraputic tools and (5) use media to build a bridge in human understanding.
In 1971, INCA's first training program in motion picture and allied media skills was launched. In 1976 its nationally known Video Production and Technological Training Programs began. Both of these programs were funded by New York City Department of Employment and limited to the New York residents. With the cooperation of various motion picture and television unions, media personnel offices and independent production companies, more than eight hundred men and women have received training and placement.
Additional support and seminars have been provided with the officers of the International Radio and Television Society (IRTS) and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) to further enhance the training of INCA graduates.
INCA will continue to build professional careers for its graduates in the various high playing media industries. Many of the graduates have become opinion makers and have moved into positions of prestige and influence within the media.
