In addition, Ms. McCabe is an active member on the Policy Committee of the New York City Partnership chaired by David Rockerfeller. Ms. McCabe has been appointed a Commissioner for the New York City Commission on the Status of Women, and serves on the Board of Visitors of the Graduate School of the City University of New York. 

A public relations and governmental relations consultant, Ms. McCabe was formerly Director of WNET/THIRTEEN's Government and Community Affairs Department, where she designed and coordinated efforts to secure and maintain $10 million in federal and state financial assistance to support a significant portion of THIRTEEN's annual operating budget. Earlier, she served as Associate Director for Public Information, Women's Division, Office of the Governor, where she managed the public information office, researched, edited and designed a bi-monthly newsletter with a circulation of 100,000 and coordinated the New York State Women's Meeting gathered in preparation for the White House Conference in Houston, Texas. Prior to that post, Ms. McCabe was the Director of Public Affairs for the New York Urban Coalition.

Ms. McCabe was selected Outstanding Young Women of American in 1977. She was born in Washington, D.C. to Julia Hawkins Jackson and broadcase pioneer Hal Jackson, Vice President and Member of the Board of Inner City Board of Inner City Broadcasting Company. 

Ms. McCabe attended Bard College and has received honorary doctorates from Tougaloo College in Jackson Mississippi, and Iona College in New Rochelle, New York.
