Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc. AFFILIATED WITH THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF NEGRO WOMEN [[Logo]] Bi-Annual Conference July 9-14 1985 HYATT PITTSBURGH AT CHATHAM CENTER 112 Washington Place Pittsburgh, PA THEME IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE THRU: Economic Development, Educational Opportunity and Equity for Women in the 80's [[Image]] AUDREY COLEMAN GRAND BASILEUS-NEEDHAM, MASS. MESSAGE FROM THE GRAND BASILEUS Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority has for almost fifty years dared to dream and accepted the responsibility of self-commitment to "make a difference" in today's society. We serve as role-models for black youth throughout the United States as we implement our four-pronged national program: Assault on Illiteracy, Voter Registration, Black on Black Love, Black Economic Development. This multiplicity of programs affords us the opportunity to "Improve the Quality of Life: Meeting Community and National Needs" in the words of our national theme. As business and professional women we have remained confident in our ability to convince others that we can overcome any adversities if we are unified in our thinking and totally committed to our goals. As vanguards of society we established a cogent example for others that we [[bold]] can [[/bold]] and [[bold]] will [[/bold]] succeed. Our ultimate goal, in order to "make a difference" is to advocate quality service locally, nationally, and internationally to overcome the devastating conditions that prevail in today's world. The ideals of Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Sisterhood, Achievement, Service and Scholarship, have been reflected in our programs and in our acceptance of a positive role in our community affairs. Our history and tradition are rich with stories of tenacious women who would not permit oppressive conditions to dissuade them from moving forward to achieve their goals. In that tradition we will move onward and upward, continuing to advance with grace, strength and vigor toward those same goals. LAMDBA KAPPA MU SORORITY, INC.
