[[image - logo of 7 Up]] Mashpee Invitational Tennis Tournament 1984 The third annual Mashpee Invitational Tournament for ladies, sponsored by The Seven-Up Company of St. Louis, was recently held in the township of Mashpee, Massachusetts. This Year's tournamnet included participants from five states. The tournament field was increased to 32 participants by popular demand of the committee. All have summer residences in Mashpee, Massachusetts. 1984 winners of the tournament were Ann Koger of Wayne, PA and Tena Jackson who defeated Delores Richardson of New Rochelle, NY and Andrea Thomas of Yonkers, NY: 6-4, 6-4. Third place winners were Mary Alice Jackson of Yonkers, NY and Barbie Soliz. Fourth place went to Artie Freeman of Scarsdale, NY and Verna Jones of New Rochelle, NY. The champions received tennis rackets compliments of Prince Manufacturing.Trophies, tournament shirts, bags, visors, head bands and product were donated by The Seven-Up Company. Freedom National Bank of New York provided tennis towels for all participants. Among other tournament highlights was an opening night dinner hosted by Betty Dyett; a pre-tennis energizer, "courtside", by Ernestine Nwanagu; and the tournament's "night out" held at the New Seabury Country Club. A pool side awards presentation dinner, was hosted at the La Plaza Del Sol by owner and manager, Barbie Soliz. [[image - tennis tournament participants]] 173
