F. Harrison Poole was elected Vice President, Financial Affairs, for Philip Morris Incorporated effective August 1, 1984. Mr. Poole was elected Vice President—Treasurer by the Board of Directors in August 1978. He was previously Treasurer of the corporation.

Since March 1982, Mr. Poole has also served as a Director of Philip Morris Credit Corporation.

Mr. Poole joined Philip Morris in 1957 as Assistant to the Vice President—Diversification, and four years later he became Manager, Corporate Analysis. He served as Director, Corporate Planning, from July 1965 until his election as Treasurer in January 1976.

Prior to joining the company, Mr. Poole was Assistant to the President of White and Wyckoff Manufacturing Company, Holyoke, Mass., from 1955 to 1957. From 1952 to 1955 he was Vice President and a Director of the Hayward Hosiery Co., Ipswich, Mass. From 1948 to 1952 he was an executive trainee at the Chase National Bank in New York.

A native of Massachusetts, Mr. Poole was graduated from Harvard University in 1943 and also attended New York University's Graduate School of Business. He served with the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 as Captain in the 17th Airborne Division.

Active in professional and civic organizations, Mr. Poole is a member of the Executive Committee and on the Board of Directors of Christiania General Insurance Corporation of New York. He is a member and past Chairman of the Corporate Advisory Group of the National Bankers Association (NBA), the trade association of the nation's minority-owned banks, and on the Board of Directors of the United National Bank of Washington, Wash., D.C.

In addition, Mr. Poole is on the Board of Directors of 860 West Tower, Inc. and a Director of the Madison Square Boy's Club. He is on the Member's Council of the New York Chamber of Commerce & Industry and on the Finance Committee of United Way of Tri-State. He is also a Trustee of the Citizens Budget Commission and a member of the Cooperative Education Commission of the Department of Education of New York City. In June 1982 he was elected a Trustee of the Virginia Union University. 

In addition, he is a member of the Sales Executive Club, the Union League Club of New York, The River Club, the Newcomen Society in North America, the Treasurers Club, and the Harvard Varsity Club.

Mr. Poole was president of Association for Corporate Growth in 1975-76, and is a former member of the Advisory Board of Norwalk Hospital and of the Board of Trustees of the Silvermine Guild of Artists, Inc. From 1966 to 1975 he was Treasurer of Wilson Point Beach, Inc., South Norwalk, Conn.

Born in New York City; served in the U.S. Navy; B.S. in Business Administration from the State University of New York in Plattsburgh; attended Harvard Business Schoool. Joined Minute Maid Division of Coca Cola, 1952; named assistant vice president, advertising, 1964. Became vice president, marketing and sales, Holland House Division of National Distillers and Chemical Corp., 1966. Joined Liggett Group, Inc., Paddington's parent company, in 1973; named vice president and director of marketing, 1974; executive vice president, 1975; CEO, 1977; president, 1979. Served on board of National Assn. of Beverage Importers; Industry Sector Advisory Committee on Consumer Goods for Trade Policy Matters. Is a member of the executive committee and board of directors of Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS). Is a member of the business committee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In September 1984 was elected chairman of the board of The Paddington Corporation, effective April 1985.
