The African-American Institute is the oldest and largest private American organization devoted exclusively to strengthening relations between Africa and the United States. Founded in 1953 by a group of far-sighted Americans, black and white, AAI over a period of three decades has built an impressive record of contribution to African development and improved understanding between the two continents. The frequency with which AAI's services and resources are used by Americans and Africans at all levels attests to the value which they place in the Institute.
