GLOVER NATIONAL PRESIDENT TUSKEGEE INSTITUTE, AL AN ORGANIZATION OF BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN BIENNIAL NATIONAL CONVENTION (58TH Anniversary) Picadilly Inn, Fresno, California July 24-29, 1987 Iota Phi Lambda Sorority was founded June 1, 1929, during the great depression. The tentative gains that had been made by Black women in the white collar areas were being sharply eroded. It was the dream of our Founder, Mrs. Lola Mercedes Parker, to organize efforts to work with these women in developing the personal and competitive skills necessary to maintain a foothold in the business world and to climb upward. Fifty years ago, Soror Parker sought to bring to Business the status it deserved as a vital force in the nation's economy. Today we praise and honor her foresight and vision as more and more women assume their rightful roles in this highly technological age. We laud her and the six women who responded to her call.
