Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1922 at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. The sorority has spread to all sections of the United States and ports of Africa, Bermuda, and the Bahamas with more than 350 chapters which are divided into five regions.

Sigma Gamma Rho now boasts a membership of more than 55,000 women. The sorority which promotes community service and progress, has provided funds in support of the NAACP, Urban League, AOIP, UNCF, King Center for Nonviolent Social Change Inc., Rainbow Coalition, NCNW and African Relief to name a few.

Innovative program approaches are encouraged by awarding grants, fellowships, scholarships and awards to chapters who meet the criteria.

Sigma's membership consists of women in varied professions. Although many are educators, the fields of law, medicine, pharmacy, fine arts, music, dentistry and the sciences are well represented.

Sigma members recognize the need for continued support and guidance of our youth. Members around the globe sponsor programs which focus on these needs. At the last Boule members collected over $6,000 for Fisk University. Support of Black colleges is just one way of showing our youth that "We Care."

Seattle, Washington, the Emerald City, will be the host city for the 41st International Boule where Dr. Rejesta V. Perry will officiate.

The program will focus on: Strengthening the Family, Preventative Health Care, The Economy and various women's issues.

In addition special workshop topics will be presented August 6. Many guests will address the issues and workshop topics.

Dr. Perry lives in St. Louis, Missouri, where she serves as principal of Woerner Middle School.
