HARLEM THIRD WORLD TRADE INSTITUTE The Workshop, "A Beginner's Guide to Trading with African, Arabian and Carribean Countries," has been organized by the Harlem Third World Trade Institute, a federally funded program of the Harlem Urban Development Corporation (HUDC). HUDC is a New York State agency that promotes the revitalization and development of the Harlem area. A focal point of HUDC's activities is the creation of a Harlem Third World Trade Center/Complex which will promote and expand trade and tourism between the United States and other nations. The Trade Complex will include an office building, a first-class hotel, a convention center, and a retail and exhibition space. Program planning for the Harlem Third World Trade Center is being carried out by the Harlem Third World Trade Institute. The Institute was established with a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce to stimulate trade between U.S. corporations and developing nations in advance of the completion of the trade facility. The Harlem Third World Trade Institute brings together trading partners, sponsors seminars to assist U.S. and foreign enterprises in their effort to expand exports and imports, and establishes trade links between the United States and developing nations. Services currently available through the Institute include market research, a job skills data bank, crafts mart, technical assistance, cultural exchange, and brokering.
