A RETIREMENT PARTY

Dr. James P. Jones, affectionately called "Rump" by all of his friends, was born and raised in Harlem community. He is a graduate of Dewitt Clinton High School and New York University. The degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery was conferred on him by Howard University. He completed a Residency program in Oral Surgery at Freedman Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was appointed to the Sydenham and Harlem Hospital Staffs in 1945. He had the distinction of being the first Black Attending to have been appointed to the Syden ham Dental Staff. He remained on these staffs until his retirement on July 31, 1985. While Dr. Jones was extremely active in many professional and social organizations, he maintained a very active private practice. He met the beautiful Ada Celeste Fisher in Washington, D.C. He took her as his bride a short while later. They are both enjoying retirement by living a very relaxed and mildly active life.
