Dear Friends

At the request of Hilda Stokely, Executive Vice President of MELPAT Associates, and Anne Patrick Phox, Mel's daughter, I am writing to express to you the manner in which the family of our dear friend, Mel Patrick, wished to have his memory honored.

Mel was closely involved with the fund-raising efforts of the Morehouse School of Medicine. He enjoyed the friendships which had developed with Louis W. Sullivan, M.D., president, and members of the administration, as well as volunteers for the School. He was active in the fund-raising event held in New York last year for the School, and made the first gift at the luncheon held in November, 1984.

Mel had many wonderful plans for ways in which his contacts throughout the country could be put to use to spread the word about the Morehouse School of Medicine but, because of his untimely death, was not able to carry them out. Hilda and Anne have asked me to tell his friends that they can honor this commitment Mel made by contributing to the C. MELVIN PATRICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND at the Morehouse School of Medicine. I know you will want to be a part of this Fund. There is no better way to honor his name than by helping qualified minority medical students achieve their goals.

All of us are not able to give major donations like Mel's, but each of us can contribute to this memorial in a manner which will show our respect and affection for Mel.

Sincerely,
Leslie Alexander
Leslie Alexander, M.D.

Contributions can be sent to Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, president of the School at 720 Westview Drive, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30310-1495.
