Office Sub-Comr. Freed. Bureau
Columbus Miss. Nov. 28th/65

Lieut. E. Bamberger
A. A. A. G. F. B.
Jackson Miss.

Lieutenant:
I have the honor to report concerning the affairs of the Freedmens Bureau at this Post in accordance with General Orders No 4. Office Act. Asst. Comr. Freed. Bureau Northern Dist. Miss. dated Jackson Miss Sept. 18th 1865.

During the present month the duties of this office have been less arduous than before the issue of General Orders No. 8 & 13. Asst. Com'r Bureau Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands for State of Miss. turning over to the civil authorities all difficulties between the Freedmen and Employer, provisions having been made for the admission of testimony of Freedmen in the courts of the State. But few cases formerly tried by Freedmens Courts are now reported at this office as the Freedmen quickly learn where to go for justice, especially, when the citizens are so willing to teach them the place as is the case at present.
