Lieutenant

I have the honor to state that the 26th Ind. Vet. Infty have been relieved from duty at this place by the 108th Col. Infty. The latter Regiment has not arrived yet but is expected tomorrow. This Regt will occupy the Wayside Hospital and Officer Quarters and hence the teachers when they arrive will be under the necessity of renting rooms. The Freedmen are still anxious to have the schools established and I desire to know where they are to come from, as I wish that it may be understood who is to send the teachers here.

Quartermaster McFadden informs me he has posative orders to take up all Gov't Property (Houses etc.) on his papers and is now waiting further orders, having been informed that the Freed. Bu. had charge of the larger portions of the building at this place. As it will be some trouble to get the discriptions &c I concluded not to take charge of the building lately burned until further orders. I can sell the brick for something if placed in my charge. What shall I d about it
