Colonel Donelson

Dear Sir

A number of the planters in this vicinity are very desirous of entering into contracts for the next year - 1866. On which contracts they will pay [[underlined]] good wages [[/underlined]]; which they think will be quite an inducement, to the Freedmen to stay at his former home. They also say that if they can be permitted to make such contract that they can do better by their hirelings on the [[underlined]] present [[/underlined]] contract which expires Jan 1st 1866 from the fact that they can repair their fences, & [[underlined]] bed up [[/underlined]] their lands this fall, for the coming season Will you no, please, give me the required information?
