How are you pleased with the within certificate? I hope it will not conflict with orders. I think it will work admirably here,

Was honored by a call last evening from Carl Shurtz & Genl Osterhaus & staff spent sometime in my office looking over books & papers. Maj Free spent the day with me. [[underlined]] like him splendid [[/underlined]], Do wish I could get these tenements, was offered one hundred dollars per month for one of the warehouses yesterday while the cotton is coming in is best time to rent, Major gave me some good suggestions about my Docket. Could there be any objections to my employing as my "rental clerk," if I should need one a man whose name is connected with a forwarding & commission Store, I wish to do nothing to compromise myself. Mr Wilmoth - my Chief Clerk asked to be allowed to have his name used in a Forwarding Firm here as he was favorably known in Mobile
