Lieut
I have the honor to forward to you the following as my Report for the week ending Dec 16" 1865. Dec 10" received telegraphic instructions to protect Freedmen in renting or leasing land.

A Freedwoman, name not given, reported to me that she had found four children, of her sisters, sitting on a log a mile away from any house: That the eldest said that the white people sent them there to get rid of them.

Told her to come again and give me her sworn statement, hes not appeared yet.

As regards treatment of Freedmen are disposed on their part to work and find good homes

Matters are about so at last report.

Have taken and forwarded you several sworn Statements of Abusive treatment.

Have had one Case of Small Pox in the vicinity. I visited the plantation personaly and saw that the Freedman, who had it was sent to an unoccupied building where there was no danger of contagion.
