There is no printing Office here at all. Can you furnish me a few copies of the most important orders for distribution in the country. I have not a [[underlined]] single [[/underlined]] copy to spare and some planters have applied for copies for the benefit of the neighborhoods where they live. They seem generally very well disposed in this vicinity and although the plantations have been many of them disturbed or destroyed by passing armies I think nearly all of the negroes will find support this year  I have been requested by planters to visit the plantations and talk to the negroes, and see how they are getting along. I think I can do good service in that way when I get a clerk who can attend to the Office  No clerk has reported yet. I need one
