Office Sub Com. Freedmen
Holly Springs Miss.
Nov. 7th 1865

Lieut. E. Bamberger
A.A.A. General F.B. Northern Dist Miss,

Sir

I have not been able to make any contract with the Board of Trustees for the two rooms for Office and School room. There are too many interested in it and too much inclination to oppose Colored Schools. I am fitting up one of the rooms however at Small cost and will open a School next Monday with the hope that we may be allowed to occupy it for a few months, perhaps till a School house may be built. Mrs. Gill has written to friends in Ills. asking money to build a School house and is quite Sanguine of a favorable answer
