Went up to Hersman in the afternoon Ralph & I met Besse, Gladeyes and friend on the train at Mount Sterling. Besse was jolly and unrestrained outwardly. Slept in lovely white bed that night.

Went to Prayer Meeting in the evening. Cool as Greenland. Nice quiet little country village meeting.

Pastor - a curious character dear man.

Chief pastime - visiting the Three M's store.

Besse's friend and Gladys left this morning - the latter for Champaign. Back to school after Xmas vacation.

Quiet morning. Showed my pictures to the family.

Like Frank's wife very much.

Admired Frank's chickens. Ralph takes it all in, and considers taking up White Orpingtons at once.

Transcription Notes:
Orpingtons is a breed of chickens developed in the town of Orpington, England in the 1800s.
