Hicks --

Monday, Jan. 14, 1918

Stood around headqu'tr's all morning awaiting final statements.

Turned in blankets and coat issued in Toronto. Lt. Underhill is acting in "Satchel-ass"'es place as Lt. Redmond is reported as a scarlet fever case.

Took my fiscal statement down to Capt King and received a check for $142. Poor old Washer Brothers wont have a thing left in stock when I get thru spending that $142.

Have been going into town every day since eagle went up on my cap. Can't buy wings in Fort Worth.

Spent night in Terminal Hotel with Huebner. Had a good bath for a change.
