78 On train from Le Havre to Tours
Tuesday, March 19, 1918

After breakfast word suddenly comes thru that we are leaving for Tours. Much hurry and rush but finally we all assemble and March down to the depot, with and English guide with much song & whistling.

In an [[strikethrough]] car [[/strikethrough]] appartment with Hill. MacArthur May Hunt Kennedy we look well to our own wants as to eats.

We sleep on the floor on the seats and in the [[strikethrough]]w[[/strikethrough]] racks over head. I was the only one with a bedding roll so I put it on the floor between seats.

79 Hotel Boule D'Or Tours

Wednesday, March 20, 1918

More travel. Le Mans and a country full of cliff dwellings cut into the soft lime stone in the valley of the Loire. We passed a Red Cross train English waiting to move up to the front. About three o'clock we arrive at Tours. Immediately we seek quarters for the night after reporting at the Provost Marshalls.

I finally get quarters at the Golden Bull Eat dinner with Hill & Ordway & Jerry. Ask the waitress if "Es regnet", and get a suspicious stare.
