Saturday, April 6, 1918

Was out to "Traps" early and Grant Hill and I put 4 barrels of clay pidgeons in the trap pit for the sergeant. Score 5 out of 25 on traps. Take a shot at pistol range Score poor. 

Late this evening I got up on the 23 double with Monitor Lt Lindsley. I did some air work made three landings. and in 20 min. was lashéd to singles Clark and Martin were lashéd about the about the same time.
 
While in field at Hdqrtrs I heard that Buck Seward was killed on the 23 singles. Elsie Janis

Sunday, April 7, 1918

Up late a great luxury believe me. Every one spends morning shining up boots etc. Bucks funeral is to be at 2.30. 

Kurd is running around at the last minutes trying to make arrangements. He certainly is much of a head. 

27 & 139 march behind herse in funeral procession. On a small knole swept by the moist winds of the Channel & amidst the soughing evergreens & cedars  Bucks remains repose Our first real contribution to the war. "Taps". His people are a ministers family so Prinz says.
