144 Friday, May 24, 1918 Did some machine-gun work. Went down to Epiez with Martin "Bière et Vin Rouge", for 2 thirsty throats. Picked beaucoup wild flowers on the way back. Martin & I "Fairy Pilot" into Officer's Mess and distribute flowers. In P.M. with Truck I go over to Colombey to find out about Mess tables. Got nothing at Colombey but an empty Water tank for 139th Came back by different road thru Vannes - le Blanche Côte and Maxey-sur-le-Vaize. Saw "Doug. Fairbanks" in Reggie Mixes In. Up in Hangar 9. Very good pictures. Major sick with Drunken Tanks of 29 145 Saturday, May 25, 1918 To-day's the day--Expect some Y.M.C.A. girls here this evening to entertain us. Spent a good part of morning down in the Hangars and Censoring mail. In the evening Elliot & Prinz went to Goudrecourt to meet them (Miss Syler & Miss Kern) and bring them over. Also the YMCA man Mr. Elliott came over. The decoration committee had made our little Mess hall beautiful with leaves and wild flowers. Two large bottles of Champagne figured largely on each table Chocolate Cake etc. Miss Syler sat next MacArthur. In the evening we went over to Hangar 8 and after Norton & Grant did some flying we heard them sing & play the harp
