Sunday, June 30, 1918

Arose 730. Breakfast out doors back of Chateau. Down to Hangars by 9 A.M. Got men started on planes. #16 is having a new engine installed as the old oil pump failed and burnt out engine. It goes to Roberts and is a very nice ship. Walked over Aerodrome and found best spots to land. Hudson & I went over chateau grounds before dinner. Natives of the French villages near came out to watch the start of U.S. Aeronautics in this sector for them.
Two News reporters take supper with us. Hear of Bill Eddy. Polk reports to 29th Bugs on the ground.
