SEPTEMBER 24
Ther. 38-1[[?]]

We got up at 5:00 and after packing and loading we had breakfast. The Convoy pulled out about 7:00 AM. We [[?]] to lead them out but they took a different road so we missed them. During the day we passed out of Va. into N.C. The cotton and tobacco fields looked beautiful. Everything down South here is new to me. The eight balls are all over the place. The Ambulence cracked up pretty bad but Mike got it going again. When we arrived at Ft. Bragg we had traveled 1467 miles. All we had to do was unload our bunks and clothing. After chow I took a shower and then went over to the P.X. and had a beer. I then came back and filled out my diary and went to bed at 10:00 P.M.
