he so hard you couldn't stay in one position more than a few minutes. We arrived at Gander station at 0930A. The scenery was swell all the way, lakes and very rugged Country just like Maine but a little on the filthy side. From the station the place looked like an old dump. But later on when the trucks took us to the American area it wasn't so bad. I met Eddie Grotzinger from home and I am to replace him. I seem to meet him all over the country. We had a swell chat and he promised to stop at home when he gets there and also say hello to Pattie for me. I hope he does but I doubt if he will. It took us all day to get settled. Attended a lecture at the theater on hygene [[hygiene]], and orientation of the field. McNaugh and I have a room together in the N.C.O.'s quarters. I got Grotzingers bunk. It is called "Club 8." Took a shower and went to bed. 2200E.
