Thursday.
Clear - Windy OCTOBER 8 70
We escorted the bodies to Hanger 9 where they were guarded until the funeral. We had breakfast and went to bed at 0530A. Up again at 0845A. I was a pall bearer at the funeral. Had a Requiem mass at the theater then from there to cemetary. The Canadian Band played the funeral march. After the burial service we lowered the body of Col. Witaker into the grave and then returned to the field. The caskets were sealed because the me[[men]] had been underwater for several days. Slept awhile after dinner and then got a form 170 for A.C.S. at Hqs. I decided if I pass the physical to try for a commission in the Signal Corps or the Air Corps. Played the sax awhile at the lab. After supper I went to the show "Captain of the Clouds" It was good even if I did see it before. The R.C.A.F Band gave a 30 min. concert before the show. Wrote a letter to Midge & Sis. Read until 0010A. Bed.
