Up at 0630A. Again as usual stayed at the field all morning. Col Meyer didn't come back from Stephensville so we didn't come out to Torbay. I slept until three something and then I went down to the Eng Lab to get my K-29 negs. As usual I spent an hour or two with Mary. She invited me to her home for dinner so I then went back to the barracks and got dressed. We went in on the bus. I met her mother, Uncle Peter, & Cookie her sister. They are swell people especially Mary & her mother. It was Marys birthday so we had a swell dinner. Being broke as I am I was unable to get her a present. But I do intend to her one after payday. Dinner was swell. Mary has 20 candles on her cake. Another GI came in his name is John King a nice cheerful chap. Mary had to go to play practice at 2000A. I walked her over to the Aud. and then returned and had a swell time talking to her mother and listening to her play the piano. She is a grand woman. Mary came back around 2300. While tea was being
