WEA. Clear. Snow Storm.
January 2
THER. 25

Up at 0745. Our room is very empty with Mac away. Went down to the lab & then to the B-18. We took off at 0855A. When we got to Fogo island and found the Radar Station we had to wait for the sun to come up. Took nineteen pictures and then returned to Gander where we had lunch. Took off at 1240P for Torbay. Flew instruments most of the way because of the snow storm. Got settled at the Lt. Col. Meyer is taking the B18 to N.Y. so he said to take a vacation for awhile and don't worry we will, Halot & I. The DA-9 crashed on White hill about 0700A killing all aboard. Capt. Mandoza M.D., Lt. Jordan, Lt. Clark, Jones and two enlisted men. I knew all of them very well, it was a terrible shock. Went up to Norrises home. Had a swell time and then later Alecia & I went to the capital theater & saw "A Yank at Eaton". Very good. I have to pick on Alecia now that Mary's Boy friend is home. Cookie has the mumps, poor kid. Had tea and then caught the taxi to the Base at $1.50. Bed 0100. I'm beginning to think that Red heads are neat.
