My Dear Mr. Wellman,
I did not expect when last we met that it would be so long before I should have opportunity of writing you. But now that we are about to leave civilization, I will delay no longer.
We arrived here yesterday morning and expect to leave about midnight tonight.
I am highly pleased with the expedition in every way. As a leader your brother is a success:- he is a prince of Good Nature and commands the respect of all. We four Americans are agreed and I am
