Professor Fridtjof Nansen writes in letter to Consul Aagaard of 2nd January, 1899: I don't know, how Wellman was equipped "and how much provision he had, if sufficient "for several years. Neither I know if he and his men "are clever enough to provide the wanted food by "shooting, if the provisions should not be sufficient, "but I should consider it inexcusable, if there be not "made a definite agreement with a ship about "going in search of the expedition."
