6 What a lot of trouble I am & have been to you! Oh, well, some day perhaps I can be as good a brother to you as you have been to me - & I shall be if I get the chance. You do not know how much I love you, how grateful I am to you - to you & your noble wife. Of course every probability is that all I have written of a business nature is unnecessary, for I shall return. Yet we cannot be too sure. If we do not get back this year some arrangement should be made to have a ship look for us at Cape Flora & here in 1900. We may get back here too late to catch this year's steamer but would pass the winter & wait for next summer's open water. I am in good health & also in good spirits, notwithstanding our long chapter of bad luck. If we can keep our dog power up, we shall do something creditable to us & to the many friends who have stood by me. P.S. I borrowed 725 from Ambassador Hay, London, & he should be repaid. I regard that as a debt of honor. With love to your wife & children, & a heart warm & full for you - Your brother, Walter Wellman
