Friday June 11th,, 1909

Rough + winday all night, quiet at 10 AM. with no ice to hinder progress. Started work on motor at 10 AM. got it going at 1:30,

saw N.W. a Steamer.

Cold with heavy swells, swells lift Propeller wheel out of water. No hinderance 

at to be at Danes Gate tonight at 12 P.M, cold and cloudy all day,

5 PM met whaleing [[whaling]] Steamer & Gunner with 2 whales in tow. Wind changed to from N at 5 PM & blew hard very rough sea. Splashing on deck, a Gale, 

Motor stoped [[stopped]] when needed much at 6.45, Tessem came to my cabin at 11 PM. announced a fire in motor room 
but with the assistance of our men it was soon extinguished.  

Terable [[terrible]] sea, motor has hot clutch $ filled siliner [[cylinder]]. Disgusted voiage [[voyage]], a Gale for 10 H or more 1/2 lower sales [[sails]] during Gale in use only.
