[[stamped]]Camp Wellman,
Dane's Island, Spitzbergen[[/stamped]]

Monday[[stamped]]Jul 5 1909[[/stamped]]

Calm, warmer with Bay full of ice. There has not been so much ice in the Bay as now. Thawed most since we came. Raised first Arch.

Finished Tower at 2 PM. Very fogy [[foggy]] in AM so thick you could see it between your mittens.

Afternoon most delightful evening Grand & the sights wonderful, beyond description. Lersem & I could see nothing but ice out on the ocean from the Point.

Snow settled fast.
